haven't posted an update for several days. i guess no news is good news. it was a typical week & no huge plans for the weekend. got invited to a "texas hold-em" tournament on sunday night but as i don't play poker or gamble there's no reason to go. maybe i just don't get it but i spent several days in november at a casino hotel and people are always asking me to play cards. it just doesn't interest me. hmmm - there's another entry for my "things that don't interest me whatsover" listing. well, it was nice to be asked anyway. now if it was a madden 2005 xbox or ps\2 tournament i'd be in in a heartbeat.
super bowl is still another week away...not sure if we're going anywhere for that or not. probably just watch on our 27" low def 12 yr old television.
minnesota public radio launched a new format this week, the current at 89.3. on your fm dial. it's a format very similar to the old 105 revolution radio station of the early 90's. plus you can stream the station in the cd-quality aacplus format from your computer. course you would need a high-speed connection so i've been listening from work quite a bit. if interested, here is a playlist of their first 8 hours on air.
that's it for now...i'm considering pulling a randy moss this afternoon and leaving 2 seconds early. i'll stop short of mooning the building before i leave.

republicans have balls...
i know it's a double entendre. the dicationary says "an ambiguity with one interpretation that is indelicate." long story short, my sister and brother in law went to dc last week for the inaugural parade and one of the many inaugural balls. which one in particular i'm not sure. my sister says she caught laura bush's eye, waved, and received a smile in return. this is the latest in their ongoing brush with the rich, famous, and powerful.
in other news, we did make it to sesame street live friday night. the roads were snow covered but a bit better coming home on the way back. the kids had a great time especially owen whose last word before drifiting off to sleep that night was "elmoooo".
had to start the snow blower for the first time saturday morning. as is usually the case, i procrastinated on making sure i had enough gas in the tank and had to run to the gas station before i could start it. had enough snow to make a few sled runs on the hill at the silver lake beach saturday night.
more later...

and since we've no place to go...
we are getting our first substantial snow fall of the year as i write...of course we have plans to go to sesame street live tonight. the timing could be better but we'll get by. i can take back roads pretty much all the way to target center. maybe we'll actually be able to use the sleds or build a snowman tomorrow. i'm dreading having to fire up the snowblower again...it's been a long time. other than that, not much planned for the weekend. will report back next week..over and out.

signs of spring?
ok, maybe a little too early for that. however, i am being hit up to help sell girl scout cookies for alaina's troop. there are a few things that remind me that winter won't last forever. one is pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training, two is the high school hockey tournament and men's college basketball tournament. the third is selling girl scout cookies. now, i'm not gonna sell 90+ boxes like my mom but hopefully i can sell a few. if i haven't asked you yet, please be thinking about how many boxes you will order from me. later...

nothing new...
not a lot of postworthy events to share at the moment. it's mid-week and so far a fairly typical one at that. in the weather department, it's supposed to be ungodly cold for the next few days. they're talking -20 and that's NOT the wind chill.
nobody like's dealing with that but this usually happens once or twice every winter.
i'll check back when something happens. stay warm.

finally!
the end of the week. somehow a full work week seems like an eternity when one has been used to slacking at home. sort of eased back into it on monday...things got busier by the end of the week. ready to call it quits for this week and regroup for monday.
the wife and i will celebrate 12 years of wedded bliss on sunday, january 9th. we hope to get away for dinner somplace saturday night. 1993 doesn't seem like all that long ago but 12 years and 3 kids later, here we are. someday when the kids get a little older maybe we will get to take our 10 year anniversary trip:-) a couple of years ago we had the vhs tape of our wedding copied to dvd. maybe we'll dig that out and remember how it really was.
that's all for now...

i made abc's list of "people of the year"...
...seriously. click here to read the full story. us (we?) bloggers are abc's people of the year. must have been a slow year for 'em. a very prestigious honor i take very seriously. ok, maybe not.
owen's golden birthday pics are now available on my images page.
