gone skiing...

taking friday off to hit the slopes. i will be snow-plowing my way down the many trails of afton alps. the goal is to maintain an upright position at any cost while gravity pulls me down the hill. this is an annual deal, after that, let it be spring.

first sign of spring...

it's official, pitchers and catchers have checked in to their respective spring training facilites, full workouts begin thursday. it may be mid-30's with plenty of snow on the ground around here but this is the first sign of things to come.

chargers highlights...

here's a seven second depiction of how the st. charles chargers 6th and 7th grade girls's season has gone. the chargers are inbounding the ball (in green). i think we're something like 2-13 overall, but have won 50% of our last 2 games. playoffs next week. next year is the year!

one cool cat...

we are mourning the loss of our beloved cat roxy today. she has been with me since my single days, lived in at least 6 different houses, and has been around every day of my kid's lives. i won't try to pretend it is the same as losing an actual family member but anyone who has endured the loss of a pet knows it's a profound loss and a real grieving period. the fact is, they are part of the family, blood relative or not. roxy enjoyed a long life and her health had began to fade recently. she never met a person or a warm lap she didn't like and if you ever scratched her behind the ears you had a friend for life. good bye roxy, you are missed!
