finally got alaina's summer soccer pictures. there about 4 players missing from the photo but this is an accurate representation of what we had on a weekly basis. it wasn't he best year we've had, but it was still great experience and gained some additional skills that we hope will help as she plays for st. charles this fall.

boston pictorial
we've been back for a couple of days. needless to say the boston vacation was fantastic. next time we go, we're thinking about staying a little longer - no one wanted to leave! i took a ton of pics this time, some 200 or so, but i've uploaded a few of the best here. haven't figured out what to do with all the video, don't know if i'll post any online. if you're really interested, let me know, i'm making a dvd :-)

day 7
today we had a lazy morning but spent the afternoon at the medford boat club. the kids can't get enough of jumping off the tower on the floating platform and plunging off the slide into the lake. owen even got his first taste of it - the kid is fearless in the water (don't worry, we kept a close eye on him and there is like one lifeguard for every 3 kids). tonight we enjoyed dinner at the "fat cactus", a great mexican restaurant. can't believe it's almost over but start the trek back home tomorrow later afternoon. it's been a great vacation!

day 6
today we ventured back downtown and did a partial tour of the historic freedom trail. we saw the old north church, the paul revere house, faneunil hall marketplace, the old state house, the old meeting house, and finished up at the frog pond in the boston common. it was a LOT of walking but the kids held up great. we came back home, and went to jordan's furniture, which is a huge multi-complex complete with a restauraunt, an imax theatre, ice cream shop, and even an active trapeze station.

day 5
after a lazy morning we spent a few hours at wright's pond in medford. it was a bit of a transition day as we packed up and moved from the brother-in-law's place in medford to my sister's place in melrose, where we will stay until wednesday. we bbq'd and then spent the rest of the evening visiting on the deck. tomorrow there is talk of a freedom trail walk in boston and then the jordans's\fuddruckers experience.

day 4
today, (saturday i think) we took the "t" downtown and hopped a boston harbor ferry to spectacle island, and georges island to visit historical fort warren. the weather was spectacular, a little cooler, and sunny. got some great pics and video. on the way back to the train we walked past quincy market which is always a hub of activity. back home for pasta, every body's beat.

day 3
today was all about boogie boarding as we spent about 6 hours at good harbor beach in gloucester. after a semi cloudy morning, the winds came and blew away the clouds and the sun shown brightly for the rest of the day. we all got a ton of sand, salt and sun and then went back for a bbq and a relaxing evening. might be our last serious beach day. did i mention that it's great to be on vacation?

day 2
the first half of day two was spent at wingaersheek beach in gloucester. the weather was hot & humid, not a ton of direct sunlight but it would peak through now and again. we drove back to town in a heavy rain storm but it cleared up in time for allie and i to go to fenway to see the sox beat the indians 6-2.

boston - day one
got out of minneapolis pretty much on time this morning. there was a slight delay because a flight to baltimore got scrapped and they had to cram some last minute passengers on our plane. our bird, according to the pilot, was a 2 week old 737, fresh off the assembly line. still had the new plane smell. we were able to make out a few of the sights in dc, including the washington monument, the capitol building, and the pentagon. our next flight was a short 1 hour trip into boston. after some crazy traffic, we finally made it to allie's brother's place in medford. we regrouped, and then hit the medford beach club for a refreshing plunge in the lake and some excellent pizza.
i am delighted to have wi-fi available to me inside the house. everyone is beat - more later

2010 - back to boston!
the family is excited to be heading out to boston, massachusetts first thing in the morning. the 10-day weather forecast looks good, plenty of warmth and sun. we love the city for it's history, culture, beaches, and oh yeah, relatives. i hope to post a few pics, and perhaps video, as wi-fi access allows, and i'll be tweeting via cell for certain. next post from bean town!
