guilty pleasures...

i cannot tell a lie. i watch american idol. i have watched almost every episode this season. lame? yes...it's to the point now that i'm really tired of it and am glad that tonight's episode is the season finale. now it's important to understand that i have never voted for a contestant, nor will i, but i am a regular viewer. that said, i don't really have a favorite in tonight's final showdown. sort of pulling for carrie, cuz she's young , inexperienced, has a great voice, and is sort of the underdog. bo, the rocker, is the seasoned vet, although it's hard to root against him cuz he's so likeable. in the end, i really don't care...i'll just be glad to have those 90 minutes a week back. more later...

obligatory post...

not a lot to report. a typical week by most respects. i did get a new cell ph this week, a motorola vi88, from t-mobile, of course. it's a signifiacnt upgrade from the lowly v66. i did have to completely re-nter my address book as none of mt ph #'s were ported over, and they were stored on the old cell, not the sim. becky & kelly, if you read this, send me your home and\or cell's as i lost them in the shuffle and i forgot to send you an email. thanks.
i refuse to mention the weather again but let's just say we released a dove today and it brought back an olive branch so i believe there is dry land out there somewhere.
noelle took a spill this week and busted up her lip and front teeth. not fun but she is recovering.
celebrating my mom's birthday on saturday as mentioned in a previous post.
more later!

it's a wrap...

managed to salvage one day of the weekend. today was actually sunny though a little cooler than average. finally cut the grass, played some soccer at the park with the girls, grilled out and took a bike ride. saturday was as dreadful as it gets (i know - i'm talking weather again!) but it really was bad. cold and rainy...then the sun would peak out for 10 minutes, then rain again...then sun...then rain. non-stop all day. you get the idea.
edited a .bat file that allows me to back up all of my music to my external hard drive with the click of a button. burned some home videos to dvd. made a couple of posts to this site.
couple of more things to take care of tonight before we start yet another busy week. more later...

TGIFthe13th!

tried to post an update this afternoon but blogger's main site was down. must have been a friday the 13th thing.
made it through yet another weekend, and it couldn't have come at a better time. i hate to mention weather here, because that's sooo lame....but the weather these past few days has sucked! we're talking cold, gloomy, and horizontal rain-like pellets at times. supposed to be getting better though...let's hope. there's nothing like having cabin fever in may.
a lot happened this week. alaina started soccer and noelle will be next. met my ex-boss and now good friend craig for lunch. i had had his ipod-mini for the last couple of months. spent half a day in the warehouse with my peers, slinging hardware around (the more glamorous side of my job). a couple of emergencies at work this week- nothing new. ready to take on the weekend challenges now. we'll check back next week.

extended weekend recap....

wow, covered a lot of territory this weekend. started off with alaina's birthday on friday. here are some pics from camp snoopy. we spent about 3 and a half hours there and then had dinner at the twin city grill, then headed back to cs for a few more rides. it was a fun night and everyone was fairly worn out. the relatives came over saturday afternoon to celebrate. alaina decided to forego the more traditional birthday cake and opted instead for baker's square pie.
spent the day sunday with mom and family. i think we all enjoyed a pleasant mother's day.
(i'll have the second round of birthday pics posted in the next couple of days)

skipprice.....out

it's been a stressful last 10 days or so...been looking forward to a day off for quite some time and getting my wish tomorrow.
tomorrow is alaina's 8th birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALAINA! here's a pic of her turning 6 a couple of years ago. anyone who knows her knows that she is the official "birthday queen" so we are looking forward to it.
put a couple of fresh beats in the radio blog section. i'm thinking about trying to update it monthly.
that's probably it for me until early next week. enjoy the weekend and mothers day.

ready to turn the page...

decided against the BIOS upgrade as esupport wanted between $40-60 for the download....yeah...i don't think so. i decided to format my new internal hard drive (with the known good data on it), go with the hardware overlay program that came with my drive (which allows my pc to recognize the full capacity of the drive without flashing the BIOS) and than re-copy the files from my external firewire drive back to my freshly formatted interal drive. make sense? whatever!
it's not often that thirdthoughts sees fit to plug or advertise for anything or anyone, however in this case, i must whole-heartedly give my endorsement to:

when all is said and done, some 9 days after the original "crash" it looks like i have all of my original data, not only recovered, but now backed-up. it was a series of almost laughable events but the bottom line is, i'm back baby! props go to jeff for his part in this, the research and time spent trying things, and also to "pc inspector" for providing a most valuable tool free of charge. now, back up your data! and let us never speak of this again....
looking forward to taking this friday off of work as it is alaina's birthday. heading over to camp snoopy when she gets out of school. getting together for a small family thing on saturday. don't forget, mother's day is sunday! more later...

one more hurdle to clear....

here's the latest regarding my recent obsession with trying to recover all of my old data. i have all of the music safely stored on my new western digital 120 gb internal hard drive. the problem i am now facing is that my BIOS in it's current state, will not recognize drives larger than 32 gb. my intent now is to flash the BIOS, which will enable large hard drive recognition. always a risky endeavor, i feel like it is the best course of action and will hopefully end this monkey business once and for all. of course there's always a possibility that the flash will fail which could render my pc unbootable. life in the fast lane! i consider myself fairly savvy... i feel sorry for any common joe that would have this problem! more on this later...
picked up a couple of new players on drop\add day. cc sabathia, clint barmes, mike sweeney, and richard hildago. we'll see if they're enough to get me out of the cellar.
where did the weekend go?
