
as everyone knows on february 17th 2009, all television stations will cease broadcasting on their current analog channels and will convert to a digital signal only. this means that if you are like me, you probably have a couple of analog (over-the-air) sets around the house you still may want to use for awhile (does not apply to analog sets that are connected to cable, satellite, etc.) if so, the national telecommunications and information administration has provided a limited number of coupons worth $40 each that can be used towards the purchase of up to two digital-to-analog converter boxes (see a lot more info here). the boxes normally range between $50-$70. click here to go to the page where you can apply for the coupons. i applied yesterday, it was painless and only took a few minutes.
